ConversionBox is a unique end to end, hands-off, desktop application to App-V batch-conversion tool which mimics exactly what an App-V sequencer (packager) does on a clean machine for every application. ConversionBox utilizes Microsoft Hyper-V for its Virtual Machine, which just needs to be turned on for ConversionBox to automate its access and use.

Initially, the specific Windows 10, 8.x or 7 ISO of your choice is drag & dropped into ConversionBox and the VM is automated. A folder of apps, including a mix of MSI’s, .exe’s, VB scripts, cmd scripts & .bat files, is then drag & dropped into ConversionBox; the main installer files are selected (if known) and the sequencing process automatically delivers exactly what a sequencer would expect to, with all the expected output files available for App-V 5.1. You can even simultaneously automate the creation of a full MSI to future-proof your application estate should you decide to move away from App-V at a later date.

The reporting function in Reporter shows which apps have/haven’t converted and any errors found. There’s an option to bypass errors/issues to squeeze out as much as possible for App-V. For the majority of these applications, the resulting app will successfully work without re-engineering. It’s an alternative to ‘remediation’, which often fixes an existing problem, but by doing this can also create additional errors.
